Government will make law to stop religious conversion in Chhattisgarh, Christian missionaries have been the target

Religious Conversions: After coming to power, BJP, which has been doing politics on the issue of conversion in Chhattisgarh, is now going to bring ‘Religion Independent Bill’ to stop religious conversions. Brijmohan Agarwal, Education and Culture Minister in the Vishnu Dev government, announced this in the Chhattisgarh Assembly on Wednesday. He said that many forces are working to destroy the demography of Chhattisgarh. This law is being brought for such people, so that apart from the legal conversions, all the illegal conversions that are being done can be stopped.

Politics has been happening between BJP and Congress: It is noteworthy that before the assembly elections, BJP was cornering the Congress government in Chhattisgarh over religious conversion. BJP alleged that a game of conversion is going on through missionaries in the tribal areas of Chhattisgarh. However, the Congress party has also been showing a mirror to the BJP on this. Countering the conversion issue in Chhattisgarh, Congress had said that instead of making allegations, the government should issue a white paper on how many churches are there in the state and under whose government these churches were built.

The Chief Minister had made these allegations against the missionaries: It is noteworthy that a few days ago, Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai himself had accused Christian missionaries of converting people through schools and hospitals. Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai had made many serious allegations while criticizing the missionaries carrying out religious conversions in the state. Sai had said in a program of a private educational institute in the capital Raipur that Christian missionaries dominate the field of education and health care. Along with this, he had alleged that these missionaries do more conversions under the guise of this. He had said that when all this stops, Hindutva will get strength.

Congress had retaliated: After this statement of the Chief Minister, State Congress media in-charge Sushil Anand Shukla had accused BJP and CM Sai of doing politics on the issue of conversion. Shukla had alleged that there are Lok Sabha elections, hence the Chief Minister is doing politics by making such statements. He had said that if religious conversion is really taking place in the state, then the government should take action. Then Shukla had told that in the 15 years of the previous Raman government of BJP, maximum number of churches were constructed in the state. Along with this, Congress had demanded the government to issue a white paper on the number of churches in the state and make the information public, so that everyone can know how many churches have been built in the state during whose rule.
