The Federation of Indian American Christian Organizations expressed its sincere condolences at the passing of Pope Benedict XVI on December 31.

The Vatican has announced that the funeral services will be held today, Jan 4th, at 9:30 AM Central European Time.

FIACONA is deeply sorry for the passing of a remarkable Pope.

The Federation is a non-denominational body. It represents both Catholic and non-catholic members.

The former president of FIACONA, Dr. Fred Semendy said, “Pope Benedict will be remembered for his conservative ideas more than anything else.”

Dr. Semendy was also the President of Indian American Catholic Association. He played a key role in the formation of FIACONA in 2000.

Speaking at the Board Meeting, Dr. Koshy George, the current president of FIACONA said, Pope Benedict was a deeply religious man with strong convictions. He said most Indian American Christians, can relate to such religious convictions.
