FIACONA Advocacy Director Meets with U.S. Lawmakers to Address Religious Freedom Violations in India

The Federation of Indian American Christian Organizations of North America (FIACONA) announces that its Advocacy Director, Mr. Stanley George, recently held a constructive and promising meeting with U.S. lawmakers, chaired by Senior U.S. Congressman Glenn Thompson.

During the meeting, Mr. George underscored the escalating violations of religious freedom in India, highlighting the increasing number of violent incidents targeting Christian communities in recent years. He detailed how Indian Christians—particularly missionaries and evangelists—are facing growing harassment, intimidation, and physical attacks.

FIACONA expressed grave concern over the deteriorating human rights situation and the systematic erosion of religious freedom affecting Christians across India. The organization urged the U.S. Congress to give urgent attention to the alarming rise in violence, discriminatory practices, and legal restrictions imposed on Christian individuals and institutions.

This engagement comes at a critical moment, as Christian communities in India continue to experience heightened persecution, including social exclusion, physical violence, and legal challenges that undermine constitutionally guaranteed rights.

FIACONA reaffirms its unwavering commitment to advocating for justice, religious liberty, and constitutional protections for all faith communities in India, and calls upon the international community to stand in solidarity with those facing persecution.
