Orissa - An Appeal for Funds for Orissa

Dear Friend,

This is an appeal to your noble and kindhearted self to donate money towards
food, water, clothing, medicines, and rehabilitation of your Christian
brethren of Orissa, India, who are being mercilessly tormented, persecuted, and
victimized by Hindu radicals, allegedly by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (World
Hindu Council).

The VHP is an anti-Minority organization and they capitalize on every event
to harass and kill Christians. One of their leaders, Swami Laxamananda
Saraswati was unfortunately murdered, which we all had condemned. A maoist group
had claimed responsibility for the murder; however, the Hindu radicals
blamed the Christians for it and went on a rampage of pillage and murder. The
extent of their riot and mayhem was so great that more than thirty Christians
have been killed, numerous nuns have been gang raped, several priests and
pastors have been humiliated, tortured, paraded half-naked, and even murdered.
Scores of churches and orphanages have been burnt and razed to the ground.
Christians have been forced to flee from their homes and about 60,000
Christians are hiding in a hill in Kandhamal, living without any food, water, or
medicines. Some are living in refugee camps in conditions of squalor, dirt, and
diseases. The Orissa government has so far failed to provide adequate safety
and shelter. There are so many children in the camp with hardly any clothes
and many suffering from dysentery and fever.

This is a time when they need urgent help. They need food, they need
water, and they need medicines. Their wounds need to be dressed and nursed so
that they can heal. Their burnt houses need to be rebuilt so that the homeless
can again find a home to live in. This is a time when your help is urgently
required. This is a time when your help shall make a strong statement of
solidarity towards our suffering Christian brethren of Orissa.

On behalf of the Federation of Indian American Christian Organizations of
North America (FIACONA), I make this humble appeal to your generous and
kindhearted soul, to extend monetary help. It is not important how much you
donate, what is more important is that you donate. A donation of $10 is equally
important to us as a donation of $100,000. FIACONA is a non-profit organization

as classified by the Internal Revenue Service under Section 501 (C) (3) of the Code.
Your donations are tax exampt and a reciept will be issued by FIACONA. We value your feelings of help and charity and sincerely hope that you will contribute to alleviate the inexplicable suffering of our Christian brethren.

Please make your check payable to FIACONA and mail it to.
