It is heartening to note that non resident Indian Christians are finally taking up the cause of their Christian brethren in India. The human rights abuses and minority baiting in India has not caught the attention of the global community due to the dubious nature of projecting India's economic growth, by the Indian media which is predominantly controlled by upper caste Hindus who have been striving for political hegemony and racial supremacy through the diabolic philosophy of Hindutva.

It is unfortunate that the international Christian community is hopelessly outwitted by the forces of the sangh parivar and its front organisations when it comes to creating an awareness leading to public opinion. At the drop of a hat organisations like the “Friends of the BJP in America” etc have tremendous access to financial and political clout in the USA and are able to deify demons like L K Advani and Narendra Modi and their ilk in the eyes of the unassuming westerner.

It is very important that international Christian organisations should make every attempt to boldly come out and internationalize the issues pertaining to the persecution of Christians in India. What is practiced in political India by these agents of Hindutva is nothing but racism and human rights abuses. India is slowly turning into a Gulag or a Guantanamo and this should be brought to global attention. The excesses of state sponsored Hindu Terrorism in India (especially in the states ruled by the BJP and its allies) need to be chronicled and brought to public scrutiny.

To achieve this concerted effort need to be taken to usher in an era of inter-denominational cooperation and unity in India and abroad. The clergy and the church establishment, no matter Roman Catholic or Protestant or any other, should spear head a movement to call the bluff of the Hindu terrorist who allege forced conversions. Conversion is a human right and anybody’s personal choice as long as one desires to convert. “Forces conversions” is a bluff steeped upon Indian Christians by Hindu terrorist who want to turn India into a Hindu Theocracy.

God bless you and your initiative to serve for the furtherance of His Kingdom here on earth. May the rally that you propose to hold during the Prime Minister’s visit to USA be a blessed and successful campaign against human rights abuses and racism perpetrated by Hindu terrorist in India.

Comment on India and Religious Persecution (A rising power not yet ready for global leadership) by Stephen Bernard

"India and Religious persecution" by Doug Bandow, is apt and timely. The author explains the political situation prevailing there very vividly. The economic prosperity of Christians among the trbals is another very important aspect which gives rise to discontenment among the non-Christian tribals-Kandhs. The Pana tribes are mostly Christians and their economic condition is better than the other. The frontal organisations of BJP has been exploiting this situation for their political gains by polarsing the tribals on religious basis. The BJP is the political arm of the RSS which has a number of militant outfits, they used to deploy and terrorise the Muslim community in the past. When the Muslim community resisted them violently and retaliated, they withdrew and now are quite due to the rising terrorism said to be carriedout by SIMI. BJP is preparing to rule the country after the next general election by any means is blaming the present government led by the Congress for their weak governance and the cross border terrorism. They want to revive the POTA to subdue their opponents and minorities including Christians.
I would like to mention here why the Hindu militant groups have been attacking the Christian Community is because, there are a number of churches which have no interdenominal cohesion and at times give the impression, that they are competitors in proselization. In the event of an attack against any church, no audible reactions are heard from the Christian Churches Nationally. Therefore, the militant groups know that we Christians are weak as we do have no unity amoung ourselves.
Every safeguard is in place, but no political will is forthcoming. The Indian Polity is mired in corruption and Politicians invest heavily in elections and offer themselves up for the highest bidder. Therefore, except for the united resistence by the churches in India, against the attacks, legally and socially, Christians in India, cannot foresee a peaceful existence, in the future
As for the roll of U.S Government, it can exert a great influence in taming harassments to a great extent whichever government is in power in the Centre in India. The U.S and the European countries are very magnanimous in allowing the practice and propagation of Hindu religion can be a coin of barter. For everything to happen, we need a very dedicated panel of advocates to present our cases politically sticking and with popular support of the entire global Christian Churches.

FIACONA has uptodate information regarding the rise of violence against Christian Churches in India. I appreciate your efforts to bring this matter to the notice of the Indian Government and UN. But the fact of the matter is that you are known to only the church organisations and not Christians at large in India. Your concern on the serial blast that occured in Delhi was reported by The Times of India, a News media voice the miseries of the christians sincerely, in a small column and I traced your website. I have sent a mail voicing my suggestions.
You being an international federation of churches in India, your activities are not reported in the media-electronic or print and therefore it has not impacted the authorities to act. As it is said above, the international media very coneniently ignored the news of Orissa violence as is Indian Christians are not human beings. They had extensively dwelt upon the flood situation in Bihar-I have no grudge over it. I want you too come out open through the media make public your concerns about the pathetic plight of the Christians at the hands of the fundamentalists and urge the member churches to unite and fight for the protection of the fundamental rights guaranteed by the Constitution to believe, practice and propogate one's Faith.
Comeon out in open my brothers, organise the leaders of the Members of your federation, and chalk out the action and move as the Children of One Father, and the Spirit. Otherwise, the days are not far away India turning into a Taliban Country. Then all those who profess the faith will find no voice to cry for help. I would like to have your comments as a reply. Then I will forward my suggestions for your information. Stepen Bernard.
